The Hood

We had a rather large crew in the Dryads this weekend.  High pressure has been hovering over Montana for a couple weeks now offering great temps and dry stone- it has been a great Winter for bouldering.  This visit we tried to focus more on the top of the ridge and upper talus to see what we could find... and of course this spot continues to produce.

J. Shmechel on Underbelly

After playing around in the talus we uncovered a couple fun problems.  Underbelly is a great little talus problem with stellar patinas.  Fruh and crew built a "nest" landing underneath a wild looking highball with a terrible landing.   Despite this it is a very picturesque setting - The Hood is a sweet boulder.  Fruh made quick work of the left arete.  Which is classic and clocks in at only around V1.  A quality problem anywhere.

After the left arete went we decided to go for the right.  Andy got the FA of Hoodlum which is a truly magnificent problem with an iron cross move to gain the top jug.  Again not uber hard just awesome climbing.
